The only true way to know is via an ultrasound - but it can be fun to try to speculate!

1. You may have morning sickness that is more severe and lasts longer than usual

There is no scientific evidence to support the claim that severe morning sickness or nausea and vomiting that lasts longer than usual is a sign that a woman is pregnant with twins or multiples. However, some women who are pregnant with twins or multiples do experience more severe morning sickness than women who are pregnant with a single baby.

2. You may feel more exhausted than usual

If you are pregnant with twins or multiples, you may experience more fatigue than if you were pregnant with a single baby. This is because your body is working harder to support more than one growing baby. Fatigue is a common symptom in early pregnancy, so it can be difficult to tell if you are just feeling more tired than usual or if you are actually experiencing fatigue due to your pregnancy. If you are concerned that you may be pregnant with twins or multiples, an ultrasound will always come with the facts – but we're having fun speculating!

3. Your food cravings or aversions could be on max overdrive

If you are pregnant with twins or multiples, you may have more extreme food cravings or aversions than usual. This is because your body is producing more hormones than it would if you were pregnant with one baby. These hormones can cause you to crave certain foods or to avoid foods that you normally enjoy.

4. You might feel like you're carrying more weight than you should, even early on

The feeling of carrying more weight than usual can be an indicator of twins or multiples because there is more than one baby in the womb. This can also be accompanied by other symptoms such as increased appetite, fatigue, and nausea.

5. A heightened sense of smell

A heightened sense of smell, and super increased levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone, can be a sign that you're pregnant with twins or multiples. Still, you'll need to get tested.

6. Feeling more baby movement than usual? Even early on in the pregnancy?

If you're feeling more fetal movement than usual, even early on in the pregnancy, it could be a sign that you're carrying twins or multiples. The extra movement is likely due to the increased number of babies in the womb.

7. Darker and/or longer lasting nausea

Nausea that is darker and/or lasts longer can be a sign of twins or multiples because it is a symptom of higher levels of hCG, the pregnancy hormone.

8. You may need to urinate more frequently

A need to urinate frequently can be a sign of pregnancy, and if a woman is pregnant with twins or multiples, she may have to urinate more frequently due to the increased amount of fluid in her body.

9. You may experience Braxton Hicks contractions earlier and more often than usual

If a woman is experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions earlier and more often than usual, it could be a sign that she is pregnant with twins or multiples. These contractions are caused by the uterus preparing for childbirth, and the extra contractions may be due to the extra weight of the twins or multiples.

10. You may have an unusually large belly

The extra space is needed to accommodate more than one fetus. The average woman's uterus is the size of a fist, but it can stretch to the size of a watermelon during pregnancy. An unusually large belly can be a sign of twins or multiples because there is more than one baby growing inside the mother's uterus. Twins or multiples often have a larger combined weight than a single baby, which can cause the mother's belly to appear larger than usual.
